Authors are a peculiar bunch. They sit alone for hours, trying to find words that will do the stories in their heads justice. They are prolific on paper and often awkward in public. They are generous to a fault, have very little grasp of the concept of balance, and often don’t get caught in the materialistic trappings of our society.

At least these are the authors I know.

I feel home when I’m around them. These are my people. Open, honest, hard working, loving. When I first stepped into this strange world I feared it would be a dog-eat-dog kind of thing. Competition for the bottom line causing strife. I couldn’t have been happier to discover I was wrong. We support, encourage, and wish only the best for the creative spirits around us.

Our little group, Chirenjenzie, hasn’t exactly been a hub of activity lately. The reason is that everyone is in the process of publishing. Keepers is under two months away from its debut, Hope Collier’s The Willows: Haven is on its ARC tour. Trish Wolfe’s Destiny’s Fire will be out soon, Megan Curd’s Bridger is doing very well on Amazon, and her new book Forbidden has a rockin’ cover and will be out soon. Mindy Ruiz’ YA fantasy/romance is coming along and should be on a shelf in the very near future.

With around a hundred members of the group I could go on and on, but it seems that even through the craziness of our lives we still find time to support one another. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by people who support fostering creativity for creativity’s sake, and I shudder to think what the world would be like without you!
